Picture Quality — This is where OLED still rules. The LG C6’s self-lit pixels deliver perfect blacks that no Mini-LED can fully match. In a dark room watching movies the C6 looks like you’re staring through a window. The Hisense U7 fights back hard though — 2,000 nits of peak brightness absolutely destroys the LG in a bright living room. HDR content on the U7 pops in a way the OLED simply can’t match when there’s sunlight in the room.
QUALITY
Gaming Performance — Here the Hisense U7 actually pulls ahead. Native 165Hz with VRR 330 is borderline overkill and the LG C6 can’t match it. Both have HDMI 2.1, both support 4K/120fps for consoles. But for PC gamers pushing high frame rates the U7 wins on paper and in practice. The LG’s input lag is still class-leading at ~1ms — so for console gaming it’s essentially tied.
Brightness & HDR — No contest. The Hisense U7 wins this round decisively. 2,000 nits vs the LG’s ~1,000 nits. In a sunlit room the OLED looks washed out and the Mini-LED looks spectacular. If you watch TV during the day this matters more than black levels.
& HDR
Value for Money — The LG C6 is $1,299. The Hisense U7 is $649. That’s a $650 difference for a TV that’s genuinely excellent. The Hisense doesn’t lose to the LG in every category — it wins several. For most people in most rooms the U7 delivers 90% of the experience at 50% of the cost. Value goes to Hisense — it’s not close.
Smart TV & Interface — LG’s webOS is one of the cleanest, fastest smart TV platforms on the market. The Hisense runs Google TV which has the best app selection of any platform but can feel cluttered. Both have Alexa built in. Slight edge to LG for interface polish.
Buy the LG C6 OLED if: You watch movies in a dark room, you’re an audiovisual purist who needs perfect blacks, or you’re a console gamer who values input lag and picture accuracy above everything else. The OLED experience in a controlled environment is still the best picture money can buy.
The honest truth: For most people in most living rooms — the Hisense U7 at $649 is the smarter buy. Save the $650 difference and spend it on something else. The LG C6 is a luxury purchase for people who specifically need what OLED delivers. Both are excellent. One is a much better deal.
